This picture was taken of the handsome station building at Gacé in 2006. On my return this June the building had been demolished. Left unoccupied it was apparently subject to vandalism. The bureaucratic response was to knock it down to thwart the vandals. If you can't beat them join them I suppose. This Normandy town is now deprived of a key part of its heritage. Let us pray that the Cafe de la Gare opposite, still operating last week, does not go the same way [see below]:
